Musical Theater/Bluewater Reunion

Carol had fun doing musical theater again this year at MCC.  Lucy and Juliette did musical theater with Gilbert Fine Arts.  I can't find the pictures I took of them.  Juliette was a gnome for a Shrek song and Lucy was a housewife for a Hairspray song.  They had a great time also.

Carol forgot her camera so we only have a few pictures from Bluewater.  Clint brought it up on the last day.  We had a wonderful time as always.

Chicago

We went to Chicago for a week and had a fabulous time!  Our course we had to eat Chicago style pie pizza.  It was definitely a "pie" and very good, although we thought the crust was too dry.  We visited the Museum of Science and Industry (WOW!!!!!)  It is the largest science center in the Western Hemisphere and it was awesome!  We spent the whole day there and it didn't cost a cent because we got in with our AZ Science Center Membership.  We also visited the Robie House by Frank Lloyd Wright, the Chicago Art Museum and Navy Pier.
The real reason we went was to attend my brother Stephen's graduation (Kellogg MBA).  The guest speaker was Steven Colbert (who I never heard of, but I guess is famous.)  He was hysterical!  Then we went to a lecture by one of Stephen's professors.  It was fabulous!  It almost made me want to go back to school (but not quite!)  Then we went to a reception by the lake.  It was so NICE!  They had sushi, and beautiful, yummy fruit and all kinds of appetizers.  I was very impressed.  Then we went to the procession ceremony.  It was a great experience and I'm sure it made the kids want to go to college.
We also visited the Field Museum, Millennium Park, The American Girl Store and the Hershey Store where Carol won a huge cupcake.  It was a fun time!!!!!  (And we even made it on our first choice of flights - both ways!)

Summer Fun

They realigned our ward and now Carol has a friend, unfortunately they are moving.  The girls had a "tea" party with their new friends and Major was the butler.

We also did some new art work for the bathroom.  All the kids painted something to hang over their new towel hook (that I haven't hung up yet.)

Cinderella Girl

Carol decided to be in the Cinderella Pageant at the last minute.  She decided on a Tuesday and the pageant was on Friday.  We scrambled around and got her ready.  She wasn't as ready as she could have been and messed up a little, but she handed it really well.  She looked beautiful!  She had fun, but I'm not sure I want to do this again.  I don't know how mother did it so many times!  Arg!!!!!!!

Girl's Weekend

We had a small girl's weekend in April with Liz in San Diego.  My mom, Alice and I drove over since no one else could come.  It was so much fun!  We walked along the beach on Coronado Island and Seaport Village and shopped.  San Diego is so beautiful!  Liz is so lucky to live there and she has the cutest house!
We shopped, talked, ate and watched chick flicks.  It was so relaxing.  I really enjoyed being with my sisters and mom.  I hope we can do it again with more coming next time.  William and David were very good sports about the whole thing.

Spring Break 2011

For Spring Break we based our trip around a visit to Google.  While in Oakland, Carol and Major did baptisms with Clint and I took the girls to the visitors center.  The flowers at the temple were so beautiful!  California is just so beautiful!
We visited two science centers with our AZ Science Center year pass.  What a deal!

The highlight was visiting Google with Bruce and Karren Christensen.  That place is awesome!  We were very impressed!
Carol also wanted to visit Stanford while we were there.  We can always dream!
We also visited the Winchester Mystery House.  It was very expensive, but we all enjoyed it.  It wasn't creepy like I thought, but had beautiful Tiffany stained glass and very unusual architecture.  All the original furnishings were sold, so that was a bummer.  I'm sure it was fabulous in it's day.  But I wouldn't recommend it unless you love looking at old houses.

Busy Kids

Major has been busy with play practice.  He was in the junior high school production of "Surviving Reality".  It was a spoof on reality TV.  He played a snooty rich kid.  This picture is from the end of the show where he has to trade places with the hill billies.  It was a cute show and he enjoyed doing it.  He has now moved on to practicing with the track team.
Carol has been doing tennis for several months now.  She made the high school team.  She loves her new pink outfit that I bought for her.  Her uniform is not pink.  She is doing well and I'm very proud of her for learning a new sport.  She is planning to do badminton next year along with tennis.  She loves high school!
Our hard drive died and we were without a computer for 2 weeks - most of the time trying to figure out how to restore our info.  We finally figured it out!  I felt quite handicapped without a computer.  Using an iphone for everything is not the best, but thank goodness we had that!
