NYC Fall Break

We went to NYC for fall break because we wanted to see Matilda.  It was AWESOME!
We visited the 9/11 Memorial.  The fountains were amazing.
This is a tree that survived.
It was too funny that the apartment we rented was right next door to my cousin Megan.  We went to her husband's photo shoot.  Carol got to hold down the balloon that the model was in.
 Rockefeller Center

We missed our flight and had to stay the night at the airport.  The kids played games and we got hot chocolate in the morning.  We couldn't believe how easy it was to stay up.
We can't wait to go again and see another show!

Right after school got out in May we went to Hawaii.  We had so much fun!
Hiking up Diamond Head Crater.
Visiting the Dole Plantation and going through the world's largest maze.
 Snorkeling at Hanama Bay.
Waikiki Beach, Pearl Harbor, Swap Meet.  We did all the touristy things.
Clint took Carol, Major and Lucy to do baptisms while Juliette and I enjoyed the visitor's center.
We stayed with Aunt Jackie and Uncle Dave on the North Shore.  They were serving as missionaries at the PCC and were the best!!!!
VIP treatment at the Polynesian Cultural Center.
Hiking through a rain forest to Manoa Falls and getting really muddy.
 Enjoying lots of beautiful beaches.

 Picnic at Waikiki.

Denmark May 2013

For five years my parents have been planning to take all of their 11 children and spouses to Denmark for their 50th wedding anniversary.  We had a wonderful time!  The main point was to honor our ancestor Peter Nielson, who joined the church in Denmark and immigrated to America.  I am so thankful that he accepted the gospel.  It has changed my life!
We stayed four nights in Copenhagen.  My favorite part was seeing the original Christus since it was part of my tour as a missionary at Temple Square.  Copenhagen was a beautiful city!  Everyone seemed to ride bikes.  The people all spoke American english and were very friendly.
Then we spent 3 nights on the island of Bornholm, where Peter Nielson was born.  I especially loved Bornholm.  It was so beautiful!

New Kitchen

I have been dreaming about a new kitchen for a long time.  I finally decided to do it.  I love it!  This is what it looked like before.
Here is what it looks like now.  I had the cabinets painted and got new countertops.  (I had formica before.)  I got Silestone and LOVE it!  The L shape countertops look like Carrara marble and the island is black and sparkly.  I got a new chandelier, ceiling can lights and under cabinet lighting.
Everything came out under budget so I was able to get the range that I wanted.  Gas range with electric double oven.  I can now bake again without everything being lopsided!
I got a Silgrante sink and love it!  It's huge and never looks dirty!  It's a black and white kitchen.  Now I need to get some accessories.

Karate

Juliette has been taking karate.  She just earned her yellow belt and was so excited!  She got sparring gear for Christmas and looks forward to doing that next year.

NYC

Clint and I went to NYC for two nights.  I was so scared to go.  But I loved it!  It is now my new favorite city.  I wish I could have lived there when I was younger!  We took the red eye on Sunday night.  I was so exhausted on Monday, but we just walked and walked and we stayed awake.  We were staying in Times Square (which isn’t a square) and walked up to Central Park and back.  It took all day.  I ran into a sister from my mission in the M&M store.  We were both so shocked!

We went to bed early and felt much better the next day.  We went to the temple and did a session and some sealings.  At the temple we met a mom and her son from Burly, Washington and they took us to Grand Central Station and then we went to lunch/dinner at the Stardust, where the waitresses sing to you.  It was awesome!  We had a good time with them.  That evening we went to see “Mary Poppins”.  We just walked around the corner to 42nd & Broadway for the theater!  How awesome is that!  The show was good, but not as fabulous as Wicked.  We can’t wait to bring the kids!  The next day we rode the ferry to Staten Island and back then walked to the 911 Memorial.  We were running out of time so we hurried to the airport, but still missed our flight.  But we got home anyway about 10:00pm so it wasn’t too bad.  It was so much fun!  I can’t wait to go again!
