Spring Break 2006

Well Spring Break is now over. It was a great, but busy week! I didn’t get all my projects done, but I made a big dent and the kids had fun also. Since we weren’t going out of town and I had a lot to do, I decided to be on vacation anyway. I didn’t cook or clean, other than picking up and laundry. (Gardening isn’t work to me.) We went out to eat at night and ate cold cereal for breakfast. My house is very dirty, but I can clean it tomorrow! It was a nice break! Poor Clint was swamped at work and we hardly saw him. He is now wishing he had a vacation! Here is what we did:
The Phoenix Zoo with cousins.

Carol's Mosaic Table Top

Carol's Roses from painting class.

Our new "Secret Garden" spot.

New planting area - only half finished. The "Secret Garden" is behind the tree.

The view out my kitchen window. It makes me so happy!

My unfinished sofa table top.

Look at the Snow!

Saturday it rained all day and night. We now have a lake in front of our house and snow on the mountains. The snow is unusual, amazing and beautiful! Yesterday some kids were paddling around in their canoe. It looked so fun, so now my kids are building a raft to take out on the "lake". I am excited for spring break! We aren't going anywhere and I hope I get to do lots of my projects!

Tea Time

Saturday we went to tea at the Ritz Carlton. It was so fun! The kids didn’t like the tea-not surprising. I quite enjoyed it this time. I got a berry/floral one and it tasted pretty good with 5 sugar cubes in it! Jeffrey the tea guy was great and brought Carol lemonade, Major and Lucy hot chocolate and Juliette water. (That is what she wanted). They loved pouring from their own tea pot. Juliette loved playing with the water and her tiny spoon and did so the whole time. I don’t think she even ate anything except a cucumber.
The first course was tiny sandwiches. They were a little too weird for the kids, but they tried most of them. Then we had scones, which were delicious. The kids loved that the jam, cream and lemon curd were served in chocolate bowls and they picked at them. Then came the best part, the chocolate dessert buffet. (That is why we came.) We were all quite stuffed and sick of chocolate. Jeffrey sang and the piano player played “Phantom of the Opera” songs for Carol. We all enjoyed it very much!
